It seems as if many may think that all they do is undergo training and provide their service for others. However, that is not the case at all. They are still just like everybody else in the sense that they too, want to have fun, be it by engaging in games such as golf, bowling, bingo or just listening to music and watching various artists perform on stage.

This is why the members of the U.S. Navy also engage in Moral, Welfare and Recreation (MWR) entertainment. Aside from the fact MWR gives them the chance to have fun, MWR also serves as a good way of retaining them in the service. The MWR has partnerships with the Armed Forces Entertainment Program and the USO in order to bring more shows to the maximum number of locations. In fact, MWR has more than 270 military locations in the Pacific, Caribbean, Europe, Middle East, Mediterranean and Southwest Asia. MWR not only comprises of activities such as bowling, golf or bingo, but they also provide the military members and their families with entertainment from various artists. Every year, MWR deploys many performers overseas so they can entertain the members of the military as well as their families. On these MWR tours, their talent comforts families, brings them happiness and makes them feel appreciated for their service.

The good thing about these MWR programs is that the benefits go both ways. Not only are the military members and their families happy to be entertained, but the entertainers themselves also feel honored to have been given the chance to experience being there. Television and stage celebrities, comedians, bands, Olympians and sports athletes are just some of the people who have toured. In addition to the fact that they have been given the opportunity to showcase their talent to more people, they also get to perform for such an appreciative audience, which can turn out to be their lifelong fans.

Aside from being entertained by various artists that will perform for them, the U.S. Navy also gets the chance to engage in outdoor endeavors such as hiking, fishing, hunting or taking part in a golf game. On days when the rain's pouring or the sun's rays get too hot, they can always play games such as bingo or bowling. For those who want to explore and hone their creativity, they can also participate in making arts and crafts. There are even photography contests that military members can enter. Indeed, there is a kind of MWR entertainment for everyone in the military service.
